Thank you to our Pre/Post Show performers for sharing their musical talents with the FPS community.

Thank You!

Last evening, we embarked on a “first ever” for FPS with our virtual experience!  We hope you enjoyed the entertainment and the inspiring stories.  A huge shoutout to hundreds of people who made the virtual experience an amazing “event” that portrayed our mission and celebrated the gift of our community!    So much happens behind the scenes, from data entry to screen records, script writing to popcorn distribution, that makes an evening like this a success! To all our entertainers and guest appearance stars, you had us on the end of our seats smiling with your talent!  To our committee members, chairs, special FPS families, community ambassadors, and “event” volunteers, thank you for being a part of the team and together we are proud!

This week, I watched a video of a young woman, Sonia Davis, that FPS has helped. She was promoting our event on social media; her words struck me as being so relevant for all of us as we continue running a charity in a pandemic, delivering a mission despite the travel concerns and embarking on the production of virtual event for the first time ever!  “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up!” (from Galatians)

Thank you all for never giving up…these same words that Pete writes in his final list of “to do’s” in life. (which is printed in full in the electronic program book that is on the website; if you haven’t seen it, you should take a look).

Through our donations, sponsorships, auction bids and raffle, we raised over $335,000 net income! These funds will carry our mission forward sending families away monthly to Woodloch Resort and delivering staycation respites to patients’ homes. Our mission continues, so thank you for your generosity!

Should you want to get involved in FPS, have any comments, or just want to say hello, please reach out to me at marci@takeabreakfromcancer.org or on my cell at 215.416.7489.  Together, we change lives.

With gratitude, Marci

In Memory of Robert and Toni Carlino

This production is dedicated to the memory of one of our most impactful supporters, Robert Carlino, who passed away in February 2021. Robert changed hundreds of lives with FPS in memory of his wife, Toni. Robert and Toni both battled cancer and knew the importance of family, love and community. We will miss you greatly, Robert.

Our Mission

Erin is a 40-year-old wife and mother to 5 children, ages 3 to 11. She was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer in January 2020 and has undergone extensive treatment including surgery and chemotherapy. Erin’s oncology team at Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital nominated her to receive a Travel Respite experience at Woodloch Resort in January 2020. Her team knew that she needed time with her family to relieve stress and reconnect. Your support helps us give this gift to families each month!

“Our For Pete’s Sake respite was needed more than we thought! After only a short time on the car ride there I knew that this trip was going to be special. We belly laughed, we had deeper conversations, we looked each other in the eyes more, we put down the technology and made memories that will last forever. I’m realizing that these things only happen when you get away and this respite provided that for our family. Not only did we get away, but we pushed aside our daily struggles and fears and just had fun. Thank you For Pete Sake for loving our family and allowing us to just “be”. – Erin

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our mission and the families we serve.

Thank You!

Thank you to our committee members who have worked hard to plan this experience! As shown in our 20th Anniversary video, it takes a village to build an outcome-based nonprofit, especially one that is a pioneer for respite across all cancer types! We are grateful to every volunteer who throughout the years has helped us reach our 20th Anniversary milestone. You have changed lives forever!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I watch the show?

You watch the show right here on this website! Click here for a full rundown of the evening: https://takeabreakfromcancer.org/the-fps-virtual-experience-how-to-guide/

What technology is used during the FPS Virtual Experience?

Our program will be hosted on this website – LOVEFPS.org.  We will send you email reminders with direct links to the program, and encourage you to stream it on your TV if you have the technology!

Auction & Raffle: All transactions related to the auction or raffle will be hosted on our mobile bidding software, Onecause. There is a separate link for the auction.

This success of this evening relies on donations from our viewers. To donate click here. Donations are 100% tax-deductible and will support families facing cancer. Thank you!

What device should I use to participate in the FPS Virtual Experience?

For the best viewing experience, we suggest guests use a computer, however, all event elements can also be accessed through a mobile device or tablet.

How do I donate to support future families in the FPS respite program?

We have an impactful fundraising goal as this is the only major event we anticipate hosting this year. Your donation will support our Travel and Staycation respite programs, and will immediately impact families facing cancer today! To support our goal, please click here, or Venmo a gift to @breakfromcancer (include your email in the comments so we can send you a tax receipt).

How do I bid on auction items or purchase raffle tickets?

Our auction opens on Feb 26th! Browse and bid on items using a computer, mobile device or tablet. To register, visit http://bidpal.net/lovefps2021. The auction will remain open until 10:00 pm EST on Friday, March 26th. When the auction closes, winners will be notified by text message in which they will receive a link to complete payment. FPS will reach out to winners to organize redemption immediately following the event. If you have auction-related inquiries, please contact Alisa Tammaro at alisa@takeabreakfromcancer.org

Who should I contact if I would like to donate an auction item?

We’re so thankful for your consideration! Please email Alisa@takeabreakfromcancer.org.

What should I wear?

There is no official dress code to follow, but we are still encouraging guests to embody the spirit of the in-person event by getting festive! If you want to dress formal, go for it. If you prefer casual and comfortable, that’s great too!

Can I mail a check to support the fundraising efforts?

Yes, checks can be mailed to 620 West Germantown Pike, Suite 250, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Please write “virtual event” in the memo.

How else can I help FPS share their mission and/or fundraise?

Thank you for your kindness! We have so many ways to help, and invite you to visit our main website at www.takeabreakfromcancer.org and view the options under “Get Involved”. Our newest focus is launching a cornhole tournament fundraiser that WE bring to YOU (the perfect socially distanced, outdoor event!). You can learn more about cornhole for cancer here. We also encourage you to consider giving a monthly gift to directly support our respite program, and looking into Pete’s Partners – a corporate giving initiative.

What should I do if I’m having technical difficulties during the event?

If you are having technical difficulties, please call us at 267-708-0510.
